REYKJAVIK – WOW Air returned four aircraft back to their lessors. The airline is facing a weak financial quarter and writes in a letter to airline’s stock holders that the reorganization is necessary to save the airline.
The two A320’s (TF-BRO & TF-SIS) and two A330’s (TF-WOW & TF-LUV) are now in storage with their Lessors in Tarbes, France. WOW Air calls the downsize of their fleet “Necessary restructuring.” The airline also says that the newly announced routes to India are not affected by the downsize.
Last the news already came out that the financial situation of WOW Air is not healthy. The airline is since then taking measures, such as selling itself, to prevent an even worse scenario. “We have received interest from a number of parties including Icelandair as has been publicly announced before,” says Skuli Mogenson, CEO of WOW Air.
The fleet of WOW Air now consists of 15 A320’s, A320NEO’s, A321’s, A321NEO’s and just one A330-300. Furthermore the airline still has 4 A330NEO’s on order.
